Root canal treatment
A procedure in which infected or dead tissue is removed from inside the tooth using mechanical instruments. The root canals are cleaned, disinfected and filled with a special material to prevent further infection.
A granuloma is a chronic inflammation at the tip of the tooth root, arising as a result of an untreated infection of the tooth nerve. Treatment involves thorough cleaning and disinfection of the root canals and their filling, which prevents the spread of infection and preserves the tooth. The procedure is safe, effective and often the last option to save a tooth before extraction.
Benefits
We preserve the tooth from further decay.
How to recognise a "granuloma"
Occasional spontaneous pain in the tooth, pain on biting, a white bump on the gum from which the inflammation drains.
How the procedure works
The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia, using mechanical files to clean the root canals. After instrumentation, the canals are disinfected and filled with a bioceramic material.
After the procedure
Mild sensitivity is possible for up to three days after the procedure.
