Sinus lift / bone augmentation

A sinus lift (raising the sinus floor) is a surgical procedure used to increase the amount of bone in the upper jaw when there is not enough bone to place an implant in the area of the upper molars. The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia and takes about 30–60 minutes. Bone-substitute material is used to increase the volume, which over 4–6 months fully transforms into natural bone. The implant is placed 4–6 months after the sinus lift.

Benefits

A simple, straightforward procedure for bone augmentation in the area of the upper molars. This way you avoid a partial or full denture.

How the procedure works

The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia — the same as for a prior extraction. The gum is detached from the bone and we then enter the sinus cavity through a small opening, where we place the bone-substitute material. 4–6 months after the augmentation is the right time to place the implant.

Aftercare

After the procedure, gentle blowing of the nose — one nostril at a time — and sneezing with the mouth open, without building up pressure, are key to success.

Price and payment options

From €250 to €800. The price depends on the size of the augmentation and the amount of bone-substitute material.
